I'm headed to Virginia tonight with the family for a "vacation". The reality is that I will be spending the whole time in the hotel room working remotely for about 10 hours a day, but after that it will be fun!!
The good news is that once again I was able to find a Crossfit affiliate within driving distance and I'm hoping to get to work out a few times with them while I'm down there. My elbow goes back and forth, but the new strap that my uncle got me to brace it seems to be working much better. Hopefully it will hold up to a few workouts while I'm away and then I can be back at it.
To make the week crazier, once we get home this weekend we're supposed to go to my aunt's place in Vermont for the holiday weekend. Maybe I'll get a nice bike ride in though... hoping that Memorial Day is nice enough for me to head out for a few hours.
I had close to two weeks off from work and really enjoyed the time I got to refresh and recharge. I didn't do anything too crazy or busy, but enjoyed the time with my family...
I went hiking with my daughters, running with one of them and mountain biking a few times. I also managed to help my father and brother roofing a house, complete 4 3-D puzzles, play endless numbers of Blokus 3-D and complete one game of Axis and Allies with my oldest daughter.
I'm all geared up and ready to be back at work!
Last week before playoffs, it went very well as we won all three games. We were missing two players, and so no rotating out which is nice! It took me a bit to work out the rust from missing a week, but overall I played pretty well I think. I had a couple nice spikes and even a really good block or two.
I've been busy at home working on my new closet, it's just about ready to paint... I took a ton of pictures, so I'll write up the progress at some point...
Sorry for the lack of a volleyball post this week, I did not go because I needed to stay home and watch the kids and also because of injury :) Two "injuries" to be precise, my thumb is STILL not quite recovered from jamming it during the race on Sunday, and I had dental implant surgery on Monday. Neither will have long-term implications I hope, but between the three reasons it didn't work out to go to volleyball on Monday.
We have one more week before the playoffs start, and I'm pretty sure we're guaranteed the top seed at this point. Hopefully next week will be a good tune-up. It should also be a fun week as I'm off work while the kids are on school vacation. I have a lot of project work at the house to do, but I'm hoping to get some long morning bike rides as I start focusing back on triathlons for the summer.
I'll try and post house before and after updates as I go if only to keep myself honest...

I also managed to go for a couple runs, and do some swimming in the pool. Now it's back to the cold and daily grind. I have a bike maintenance course tonight with my brother which should be interesting... and hopefuly I will get back into the routine soon.
We've arrived in Naples,FL after a somewhat crazy trip where we battled traffic in what felt like every state. Here's the typical view from the driver's seat.(If I can post the picture)
The weather is beautiful, we saw my wife's aunt and uncle yesterday and have a relaxing day planned today. I hope everyone is keeping warm!
